AMMRL: Requesting advice/tip on how to quench a magnet.

Dear Spinlanders,

We have an old 250 MHz magnet that I would like
to de-energized, meaning quench. Looking at videos posted on Youtube, it
seems relatively straight forward to do it. Just by opening the vacuum
valve, and spoiling the vacuum, the thermal isolation is gone, and
helium starts to evaporate fast. Then, the magnet quenches. It seems
also that it is better if helium gas fills the vacuum.

I thought that it is better to do it this way,
where you can leave open the Helium exit port before starting, and kind
of in a control fashion, than just leaving the magnet without nitrogen
until it quenches by itself.

My questions is whether there is any other
advice, something I should be aware of, before attempting it.

                           Thanks for any help.

                               Best regards.
