Hi Everyone,
Our new joint NMR lab has two very large PRAC (air conditioning) units on the floor that are causing floor vibrations.
The architect's current thinking to mitigate this is to put neoprene pads under the units:
Tentatively ( our Vibration Engineer is verifying this information), we anticipate providing vibration isolation per the attached and noted below.
• Provide eight 6”x6” neoprene pads under each PRAC unit in the NMR Room SB205.
• The basis of design is the NGD-6-45 by Kinetics Noise Control (see attached). These pads at 0.68” tall and will provide a maximum static deflection of 0.19”.
This should (pending some further investigation) mitigate most of the vibration from the problem unit in the room. We are planning to provide this material for both units though. Please advise what times you would like to get together to discuss while we look at this more definitively.
Has anyone had a similar experience? Does anyone have any thoughts about the suggested fix? (If need be I can send the attached pdf file.)
Thanks,
Karl Koshlap
