Dear Ammrls:

Our NMR facility at the University of Michigan provides an individual
user account to every user (student, post-doc, researcher..) that needs
to use our instruments. We currently have 6 Agilent spectrometers and 5
data stations with Vnmrj 2.2D to 3.2A. Each year, we usually add about
50 new users to the list of about 400 accounts. Needless to say,
managing user accounts on each computer with only Vnmrj's administrative
graphical interface is a daunting task. To facilitate the process we
have written a command-line script to create user accounts:
"makeVJuser". We wrote another shell script that executes makeVJuser in
each computer via ssh and the result is an identical account with only
one command. Accompanying scripts can create account "operators" and
delete accounts and operators. A user id can be specified to enable file
sharing in an NFS network. User accounts can be created from a template
account to inherit its site customizations.

Some of you have already asked for these scripts, but I want to make the
most recent version available to anyone here:

Enjoy.
