I am sad to announce the passing of my friend, Dr. Anita Brandolini, last
month at her home in Hillsborough, NJ.

Anita, formerly of Morton PA, went to Drexel University for her
undergraduate education. She appeared on the NMR scene as Cecil Dybowski's
second graduate student at the University of Delaware. After she received
her Ph.D. she was hired at Mobil Chemical in Edison NJ where she worked in
the Analytical Department for many years. During her stay at Mobil she and
Deborah Hills contributed the book "NMR Spectra of Polymers and Polymer
Additives", which, I think, most of us have on our bookshelves at work.
After leaving Mobil, Anita moved into academics and most recently was on the
faculty at Ramapo College in Oakland NJ. She had become increasingly
interested in the science education of children and wrote the book, "Fizz,
Bubble, and Flash! Element Explorations and Atom Adventures". She also
created and maintained a blog for children called Dr. B's Science Lab
(drbssciencelab.blogspot.com). She was a volunteer at the Liberty Science
Center in Jersey City NJ for many years. Anita had long been active in the
NMR community as chair of the North Jersey ACS NMR Discussion Group and
later as chair of the North Jersey ACS section.

Anita will be missed by all of us who had the privilege of making her
acquaintance.
