Greeting All,

As you know Rich Shoemaker has done a great service for our community by
maintaining the AMMRL Web site and Email distribution list but has asked
that someone else take over this responsibility. I have agreed to do so. I
know I speak for all of us on this list in expressing our gratitude to Rich
for his tireless efforts on our behalf. I hope I can continue to maintain
this resource as well as he has for more than fourteen years. *THANKS RICH*

I do not anticipate that there will be any changes in policy as far as
posting to the list is concerned. We will continue to monitor the incoming
traffic for SPAM (I already see over seventy messages a day) and we will not
forward attachments.

Emails to the list should go to ammrl_at_ammrl.org. This forwards these
messages to my server here in Hawaii. After review I will pass these on to
the rest of the list. If you used to directly email Riche's server by using
ammrl_at_chemnmr.colorado.edu there will be a delay in posting you message
while we sort out the forwarding of these email.

While I will examine the blocked messages periodically we will still ask
that you preface your messages with AMMRL: as you have in the past. This
helps keep the differentiation of real messages and spam simple.

This is a new server and I still have some configuration issues to sort out.
Some of these are my errors and other issues are due to networking changes
that we are implementing at the University of Hawaii. If you stick to
sending to the address above all should go well.

I have yet to experiment with the email archives. I believe I am behind for
March and have some other catching up to do. I will get this sorted out as
soon as possible.

There is one last item to mention. Any problems that we experience with the
AMMRL list and Web site are now mine and mine alone. I hope that you will
all be patient with me as I try to set this up. Please do not hesitate to
email me using the address below if you are having problems. I will do my
best to provide answers and solutions to these.

TIA

Walt

PS: Sorry about the earlier "blank" message. My fault.
