dear managers
We have built the parallel port transfer cable described in Z. Zolnai's
article in JMR. The card is a computer boards clone of the metrabyte card.
The card checks out ok. The aspect parallel port will drive a wattanabi
printer without error. I modified the output stage of the LS123 chip on
the aspect io board by replacing the 1 nf cap with a 200 pf unit as
recommended if a problem occurs.
Our problem is as follows. We are using the nmrnet on the aspect and
wnet240 under windows on the pc. Using the test function on the pc side we
get reliable transfers for some numbers but not others. Since the program
seems to check all numbers lower than the number entered, one would expect
a failure if a previously entered number failed in the new range. This
does not happen. For example
4 works (test for 0-4) 5 gives message received 6 and locks up the aspect
but sending 6 gives no errors having sent 0-6!. numbers that give 6 error
include 5,7,13,15,20,21,22,23 and then i gave up but 56 gives no error.
The bit pattern doesn't seem to suggest a hung bit. what is going on here?
