Soft Magnets

How long does a magnet last before it starts to go soft? What are the
indications of a coming problem? (I assume high He boil off -- how high? for
how long?) How long do you have after seeing these indications before
magnet failure?

We have just finished the 2nd year of our (hopefully) first high field NMR
and would like to get an idea of life expectancy, etc. Thank you.
