Hi All,
In the past 24 hrs the power to my NMR spectrometers has gone down
three times. The first time was because of a contractor doing renovations in
our building and the other two times it was a power company problem. Our Unity
+ 400 is on a UPS and its operations were uiterrupted. The UPS supplies power
to both the rf cabinet and the computers.
We also have a Bruker MSL-300 which seems to be very sensitive to power
flucations. After working all morning to get the spectrometer operating
properly, I have come to the conclusion that I would like to put a UPS on it
also. There are a few problems however. The Unity + uses 220V for the rf
cabinets and 110V for the computer. The Bruker, on the otherhand, uses 208V
for the console and 308V for the high power cabinet. The 208V is not a problem
as that is what usually comes out of a 220V line. The problem occurs with the
308V line. We have a transformer in the line to get to 308V and I would assume
that the UPS would have to go into the line before the transformer. I am
having our electrician in to look at the sp0ectrometer and power lines on
Tuesday. I would like to know if any of you have an MSL on a UPS and if so how
is it hooked up to the spectrometer. As usual I would be hapy to post a
summary for anyone who is interest.
