NOE selectivity on Varian's

Dear Colleagues,

I am posting this for a faculty here. I don't have Varian spectrometers
here so I don't know the answer. I am sure Varian can do NOE well, but a
response from user community would confirm it. (We are in the process of
acquiring new NMRs.)

"Have you had problems doing standard difference NOE techniques on Varian
NMR spectrometers? I'm particularly concerned with achieving selectivity
of irradiation when peaks moderately close (separated by about 30-100 Hz).
I had problems with this both in using a VXR-500 in 1989 and in a demo of a
UNITY-INOVA-500 at Varian this year. These are experiments that should
work without difficulty using the rountine software, and I'm wondering
whether people have had problems getting them to work properly on the
Varian machines."

Thanks in advance, and with best regards,

Jiejun
