Thanks for the two who have kindly responded promptly so far for 'a mini
NMR system', and I am looking forward to hearing more (?) from others.
Just to make myself clear on the purpose of this 'mini system'. I am
looking for a system for undergraduates major in physics or science in a
physics lab, not for students to run routine spectrum as required by say
pchem students in their classes, but for physics or science students to
understand NMR, to do a few simple NMR experiments, to get their hands
'dirty', and to see how several 'off the shelf' instruments (such as a
scope, a computer, an ADC, etc) can be pieced together to make a functional
unit. It is basically something that the NMR pioneers did when they
demonstrated NMR 50 years ago. I just don't have the time to piece one
myself (I am sure that I would greatly enjoy in doing so), and the money we
have has to be spent up quickly or it would disappear....

The following is my original posting.
Does anyone know of some companies that sell low-cost mini NMR systems for
upper-level undergraduate labs? I would like see a low maintenance
(permanent magnet) system that has an open structure - that is, there are
cables linking various boxes so that students can view the system clearly
as something they can build themselves if they want.
We are in the process of updating our teaching labs, and I like to add a
mini version of NMR system to one of the labs. I know one company who
sells an educational system for $10k (proton freq 10 MHz). I would
appreciate any information.
