An immediate opening exists for an NMR spectroscopist in the Department of
Natural Products, Merck Research Laboratories, Rahway, NJ 07065, a world
leader in pharmaceutical research. The successful candidate will have
responsibility for the maintenance of three spectrometers (Varian XL-300,
Unity 400, Unity 500) and associated SUN workstations and will interact with
chemists in a natural products structure determination environment.
Familiarity with NMR hardware and software issues (preferably Varian)
including UNIX is essential. The incumbent will keep abreast of the latest
developments in these areas and be responsible for their implementation
including methods development (e.g. new pulse sequences).
Applicants should have a Ph.D degree in chemistry or related discipline
preferably with 3 or more years experience in the operation of NMR
spectrometers. Familiarity with NMR pulse-programming and molecular modeling
and experience in the application of NMR to natural products structure
determination are highly desirable.
