This request for information is directed particularly towards those
of you with spectrometers about 2-3 years old.
At Rice University, we are working on a grant proposal for several
spectrometers to address a wide range of liquids and solids NMR needs. At
present, our newest spectrometer is about 5 years old. We are trying to
estimate typical operation and maintenance costs for new spectrometers (in
addition to the cryogens) after the warranty period expires. Hence,
spectrometers only about 1-2 years out of warranty are our best frame of
reference.
As much as possible, we would do any repair work ourselves. If you
are in a position to provide an estimate of your annual costs for
replacement parts (including consumables, such as rotors) for a particular
spectrometer, I would certainly appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks in advance.
