I've been considering that as well. My plan
is to hook the spectrometers and workstations up as a small network,
connected by Etherwave transeivers, with one connection to the
main network (which goes out to the internet) which can be pulled when
not needed, as an extra measure of security. Etherwave can daisy chain up
to 8 devices without a hub. They run about $100 each.
