The Chemistry Department at Stony Brook is preparing to create a
permanent exhibit featuring our vintage-60's Varian A-60 instrument. Paul
Lauterbur used this to accomplish his vintage-early-70's experiments that
led to the publication of the first NMR image (Nature, 242, 190-191 (1973)).
In setting this up, we have discovered that some of our A-60 parts
or components are missing. If you have any such items, and are willing to
part with them, we would very much appreciate them.
We need the following:
probe;
spinner housing;
spinner;
temperature controller;
computer of average transients (CAT).
These do not have to be in working order.
If you can help us, please contact either of us at the indicated
address. We will be happy to acknowledge you and your institution in the
display text. Thanks very much.
Keep resonating,
Charlie Springer
