Varian's Limnet [tm] hardware and software is an old, but robust means
to use Ethernet speed for transfer data from an XL computer to a
UNIX/VNMR data system.

In our lab we had packet conflicts with some Macintosh broadcast
packets, but in an isolated network (ours was in a huge corporate-wide
net) Limnet[tm] worked really well. We isolated our XL systems with a
LAN bridge and had reliable transfer for years.

Finding some old Limnet hardware/sw/manuals and having a network savy
person hook it up would solve your problem.

As others have pointed transfer by tape/floppy is the most
straightforward, but least flexible, solution.
