First, I wish to offer my profound apologies. I would have been much
more careful in the making of my arrangements if I had known the
depths of despair into which so many of you would plunge at the
prospects of trying to enjoy an entire ENC without benefit of my
charming company and wise counsel. Although I must concede that my
own happiness has been somewhat compromised by this unfortunate
circumstance, I must also demur that the future of NMR spectroscopy
and your own prospects for personal fulfillment are not really in quite
the
peril you imagine. Think about it - honestly, now - when was the last
time
I added even a megahertz to the field?
Let's see a little dignity out there. Buck up, put on a happy face, and
everything will be all right. You'll see! And long after my pleasant
visage
and sonorous voice are forgotten, that blasted "William Stevens" name
will still be cluttering your incoming mailboxes.
P.S. I was just reviewing my email archive and noted that I owe a
belated thanks to all who contributed on the topic of electronics test
equipment and expertise. I was especially pleased that one of our pre-
eminent colleagues in that aspect, Bob Santini, chimed in with a rather
thorough and instructive contribution.
