QE spinning

We have had persistent spinning problems with our QE since a clever user dropped
2 samples down the chute in succession, breaking the second one. Are there any
QE owners out there who have had occasion to disassemble the upper stack to
gain
access to the spinner bearing? I haven't, since it is ordinarily covered by a
98 pound sample changer on our instrument; nobody seems to be home today in
Fremont who speaks QE. Anyway, my question is: underneath the outer sheath is
an inner pipe, all PVC pieces as far as I can tell, with the whole thing held
together by glue. Is there any way to get to the bearing without un-gluing
the joints? The usual palliatives (kimwipes on a dowel, compressed air, sticky
tape, etc.), have already failed to restore normal spinning.
Any suggestions from individuals knowledgeable about the innards of these
things
