We didn't even use the nails. If you have a wood shop then turn down
the ends of some 4x4, insert into bases about a foot square and an inch
thick with a 3" hole drilledin the centre, add fish glue and plastic
chain from your local hardware store - OK you will need metal hooks but
these wont't cause a problem - and there you are.
