Re: Steve Patt's response to Shaw Huang

As long as we are sharing personal opinions I would like to say I find
Rudy's characterization of Steve's response as sales hype to be
unsupportable.

I think once Shaw Huang decided to summarize HIS evaluation of vendor
strengths and weaknesses, anyone has the right to respond, clarify,
criticize, agree or whatever.

If Shaw (or anyone) innocently happened to misstate or misunderstand (I
am NOT saying he actually did this) a particular vendors' situation,
why shouldn't that vendor clarify the situation? (BTW: I found Shaw's
post to be well-done and informative.)

Steve Patt's post was enlightening and relevant to the purpose of the
list. I'm sure a similar post from another vendor would also inform the
group.

The decision process for purchasing new NMR technology is very costly
to the buyer. However, one advantage is one can get a crash course in
state-of-the-art NMR spectroscopy. I hope readers of this list will
share their evaluation experiences with those in the AMMRL who are not
fortunate enough to be involved an instrument purchase.

Besides, let's say Steve (or anyone else) posted pure sales-hype or
worse. I suspect the readers of this list are smart enough to figure
this out. Then wouldn't such a post actually hurt the vendor?

So what's the problem?

Wow, this is a first - flames on ammrl!

Seriously though, Steve Patt's communication is not the sort of thing I find
particularly enlightening. It really has nothing to do with what Shaw discussed, or
the purpose of this mailing list.

I don't interpret this as in invitation for sales pitches from ANY vendor....
