Near the top of smb.conf, you specify the workgroup. Be
sure that the PC is in the same workgroup.

If that still does not work, try doing "Map Network Drive"
in the Windows Explorer Tools menu. Use this syntax:

\\\

I've never done it on an SGI; just linux. But it should
work the same.

Another "gotcha":

Windows 95 did not use encryption when sending
usernames/passwords over the network, but Windows 98 (by
default) DOES use encryption. There are ways to change this
behavior (a Windows registry key). I think that Win2K does
encrypt by default. Just be sure you know that you're
either encrypting or NOT encrypting on both ends. There is
a setting in smb.conf for this.

You also have to set samba passwords on the host. Look at
'man smbpasswd'.
