Since you got 5 years of life out of the old batteries they were
certainly of good quality. Several years ago I bought a UPS which
uses about 18 sealed lead-acid batteries. Over the next year, the
waranty period, several of the batteries failed and were replaced.
One of them became so hot inside it glowed!!!!!!!
Not long after the waranty expired the remaining batteries expired
also!
The maker was not very sympathetic but eventually agreed to help
us to buy 18 batteries of better quality using their buying power to
obtain a reasonable price.
The moral in this sad tale is that a battery is not a battery is not a
battery ... To quote a wise person, whose name eludes me,
"There is nothing that one man makes which another can not make
cheaper" and sometimes, nastier!
I hope you find a cheaper source of these excellent batteries. I
hope my story will help you to resist offer of cheap and inferior
batteries.
Sincerely
Andy
