AAMRL – Announcing a new group, IVAN for International Varian-Agilent NMR users.

Yesterday at the SMASH conference in San Diego, simultaneously with the announcement of OpenVnmrJ1.1A, a group of users, VOSSG members and former Varian-Agilent employees announced the creation of a new users group, IVAN, International Varian-Agilent NMR.

For more information about IVAN see the attached message from MR Resources, which first appeared yesterday at the SMASH conference in San Diego.

The purpose of IVAN will be to facilitate on-going technical support for the International Varian-Agilent NMR community by fostering interactive information exchange and face-to-face meetings of users. IVAN has a commercial sponsor, MR Resources, which is willing to fund IVAN meetings. Note that MR Resources and IVAN are not affiliated with Agilent Technologies, Inc. or Varian, Inc.

Ivan is conceived to be an independent future home for OpenVnmrJ, Varian-Agilent owners and interested users. While IVAN has a commercial sponsor, MR Resources intends its own commercial activity at IVAN meetings to be low key. The success of IVAN will depend on what we users make with it.

We hope that all owners and interested users of Varian-Agilent instruments will join IVAN and possibly attend meetings. There is no charge to join or attend meetings. Our first meeting is planned for this fall, October 28th, at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, California. A meeting to precede the Asilomar ENC is planned for spring 2017.

Information about IVAN membership and registration for the first meeting in San Jose can be found in the attached flyer and at the MR Resources website at http://www.mrr.com.
