Responsibilities: Operating and maintaining the NMR instrumentation (liquid and solid state NMR machines with Bruker and Varian consoles; fields ranging from 400 to 700 MHz); overseeing routine service and maintenance of NMR spectrometers as well as associated hardware and computer systems; training of faculty, research personnel, graduate assistant(s) and student worker(s) in operating as appropriate any of the computers, equipment, and instruments in the NMR Facility; performing analytical and scientific research experiments and sample analyses for faculty, industrial clients and outside users; conducting collaborative research with tenure-track and research-track Chemistry faculty, with Chemistry postdoctoral and research associates engaged in research with these faculty; coordinating with other research associate support staff, and assisting Chemistry personnel with NMR aspects of proposal preparation; providing information needed for billing.
Required Qualifications: Master's degree in chemistry or related field and one year experience solution state NMR.
Additional Qualifications Desired: Ph.D. in chemistry or related field and three years of experience with liquid state NMR; experience in solid state NMR, NMR laboratory manager experience and knowledge of Linux operating system.
