Hello Spinland,
It seems that we have a '60 Hz issue' effecting our Bruker Biospec system
that we use for material and micro-Imaging studies. We see this '60 Hz
issue' expressed as ghosting in the phase encode direction of images, 1-4%
ghosting where there was none. Initially I thought it was a gradient
controller problem, but tried replacing the BGU 2 and got a minor
improvement in S/N, but no reduction in the ghosting. At the suggestion of
Bruker, power cycling the BSPS seemed to reduce the 60 Hz issue, but the
ghost is not gone. All ripple on the AQR PSB's and the AC line voltage in
the line distribution unit are within spec, according to Bruker. Has
anyone had success in chasing a 60 Hz gremlin out of a D-series Bruker
system?
Our magnet is 1H _at_ 100MHz. Would it be possible to upgrade the console to
an avance II for any MHz system (HR or imaging) and do our 1H detection as
19F on the userbox 1 as we do now? Can anyone share experience upgrading
from the D-series instrument to an AV 2 or 3? How much of the existing
system could we expect to conserve with an upgraded console? Will it be
easier to pony up and have an engineer from Bruker come and try to chase
this 60 Hz out?
If anyone out here has an AV2 or 3 imaging console ready for retirement, we
would be interested to talk about acquiring it from your lab.
Best Regards,
Benjamin
