AMMRL: installing new probe

Dear Ammrl,

I'm posting two questions on behalf of Shaka Lab student and myself since I
wasn't able to help him substantially.

1) When installing new probe - how does one find position at the center of
shim coils?
2) Any advice on shimming from scratch (i.e. with no good guess available)
in addition to "shimming aint magic" recommendations?
