Dear All
Thanks for Andrew Lewis, John Witte, Bob Berno, Joanna
R. Long, David Vander Velde, Jose Martinez, Ian
Marshall, Christian Schorn, Matthias Findeisen and Ali
Jabalameli’s replies to solve this problem.
I received a couple of responses to this problem, and
most people suggested that it was caused by the
software rather than hardware. It is indeed problem
from the software. I just simply turned off the
temperature monitor on the Acquisition Status Bar to
solve this problem per the suggestions of Bruker
engineer and Ian Marshall.

The responses are listed as below:
#1. we had problems during the install of our Avance
600 because the wrong thermocouple was selected which
meant we saw some strange errors and effects. We are
getting a cryo probe in 2 months and I recall
answering a question in the pre-install questionaire
related to type of thermocouple we had. I remember
something about PT 100 versus Type T or K
thermocouples.
#2. A faulty 2H-TX board will cause this problem. I
had the same problem on our AV-400 and Bruker did not
know what was wrong so we just kept swapping boards
and the new 2H-TX board made the problem go away.
cheers--John Witte Reed College Portland Oregon.
#3. I have not seen that error. It sounds to me that
there is a communication problem between the
conditioning unit (i.e. your BVT 3200) and the
console. Is it properly connected?
I suspect a Bruker engineer will be contacting you to
go through and
test the various communication ports to see if that
fixes the problem.
#4. We had a problem with a BVT3000 doing this. We
swapped in a BVT3300 from another console and it went
away. We will probably have to upgrade the BVT on
the other console when we switch it to topspin.
#5. Looks like that the VT unit was not configured
correctly, command: [cf].
Also, control the VT using the software (topspin,
[edte]), not the hardware.
#6. We have also experienced the "can not determine
the BVT model....."
error (BVT3000 & BVT3300, TopSpin v1.3). I've found
that restarting
TopSpin with the VT controller ON allows control to be
re-established. I've also been told NOT to "include
sample temperature" on the Acquisition Status Bar.
#7. But we have had problems with TOPSPIN/Edte and a
room temperature probe. Always when we have closed the
edte window the heater turned off in the background
after 1-2 minutes.
Our BRUKER engineer has installed a new software
patch. Perhaps you may contact Haydn Smith at BRUKER
UK who did this for us.
#8. It's known, appears from time to time. We simply
cloes TOPSPIn and start it again.
#9. I think you need to check the configuration. May
be you have a wrong thermocouple checked.
