We are looking for a good home for a Varian VXR/UNITY 300 MHz NMR
spectrometer (vintage 1989). It's up and running beautifully, but won't
be for long, as we are just now energizing a new Bruker Avance 400 to
replace it and need the space by the end of December. Wish we could
maintain two, but we can't.

It's a bit of a hybrid--we originally ordered a VXR but were sent one of
the first UNITYs built instead. It has the original HAL board, which
explains our ancient Solaris operating system. I'm hoping someone out
there has a similar machine and might jump at the opportunity to get a
good second probe, VT, brand new amplifier, synthesizer, or soon-to-be
extinct boards out of this. If someone really wants it as a running
instrument, it's a beauty, working better than ever. I'll miss it
(maybe).

   Console: VXR300S Serial # VXR300S-5712
Computer: Sun Sparc 5 running Solaris 4.1.3_U1
   Magnet: compact Varian magnet
Probe: recently refurbished 5mm broadband switchable probe
Other: VT unit, new dual channel amplifier, PTS 160 synthesizer

includes full (annotated) electronics schematics and maintenance course
documentation, also original specifications sheet and acceptance test
results
both originally and for the recently refurbished probe.

$10,000 or best offer. Minimum bid: $2500. As is. You arrange shipping.

Feel free to call and discuss it.
