Hi, all,

in our house (not our group) we had some hacker attacks
against IRIX machines. In all cases the tooltalk
demon seems to be responsible for the major security hole.
This is even valid for IRIX 6.5.9.
If you have it running, it seems to be reasonable to
deactivate this demon. In nearly all cases this does not
influence your daily work.
If you are insecure look into

     /etc/inetd.conf

for a line starting with

     ttdbserverd

There should be a preceeding

     #

in this line. Don't forget a /etc/killall -HUP inetd
if you made any changes in inetd.conf.

security informations. They are furthermore available
