Lock anomaly

Fellow Managers,

The hardware: Varian Inova/400 MHz Solaris 2.6 and VNMR 6.1B (with just
distribution patches).
Autoswitching probe in 4 nucleus mode. CDCl3 soluble samples.

The Problem: Initially lock level is low (perhaps 4x) but shimming is
possible. However, when ga
is issued, the lock level rises to "normal" levels immediately upon the
first pulse. That is, as soon as
the transmitter light blinks the lock level will rise dramatically. This
occurred quite rarely at first and proceeded to be the rule. On eject and
insert (loss of lock?) the weirdness demonstrates itself again.

I don't see this with a different probe (triple resonance) - but does that
mean it is a probe problem?

I would be grateful to anyone with some ideas about this. But let me say
I am pretty new at this so
don't assume to much in you explanations.

  Thanks
   Carl
