effect of paramagnetic ions

Dear friends,

We want to differentiate proton NMR signals from compounds inside cells
or outsides cells in our Varian's nanoprobe. One way we want to do is to
add some paramagnetic ions, hopefully the compounds outside the cells
will be very close to these ions and relax fast and disappear from the
proton NMR, while the compounds inside the cells will not feel these
ions and their signals will not change. We want to make sure the ions we
choose will not diffuse into the cells, and I will be very grateful if
someone can share any experience on what paramagnetic ions are good
(Fe3+, Sn2+, Mn2+..?), and what concentration would be suitable. Any
suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much
