I have a Sparc5 (solaris 2.5.1, vnmr 5.2b) running a Gemini 2000 which is
in serious trouble. We get to the login screen and then to the next screen
(the white welcome one) and then the computer hangs. It's not allowing me
to telnet in, but I can ftp out. I can login using the command-line option,
but no amount of fsck-ing and/or rebooting helps. I have the data backed up
and other assorted files. All unix support at this university has been
discontinued and, naturally we have no contract with SUN. Can anyone
suggest some simple things to try to get this thing out of the cocoon it's
wrapped itself in before I go ahead and reinstall everything?
