For what it’s worth, it’s a tachometer signal and if the speed
drops too low you’ll get an alert. This is what causes problems with
some fans—if you get a fan with a slightly higher current draw the
fan won’t spin as fast and you’ll get alarms.

I believe the third line on those fans is a high-voltage/locked rotor alarm.
