AMMRL: Remote access to NMR for operation/data processing

Hi everyone! We are the proud owners of a shiny, new QOne NMR system. The team at MR Resources has been great. But we’ve gotten stuck on one last piece of our installation puzzle - The IT side of the house. I’m stuck between the vendor and the University IT department, and I don’t think anyone is speaking the same language. My IT department is also short staffed and overwhelmed by the whole remote university thing. I’m a lousy translator. I’m an organic chemist. I am not an effective translator.

The NMR computer is Windows. We are running SpinStudio and Mestrenova. We have an autosampler. For remote access, my campus uses Bomgar and we have just started using Appsanywhere.

We want to be able to have our students put their samples in a spinner during their lab session. We put in the sampler rack at night. Students can log in from home/dorm, set up their experiments, run them, get the data, dump it into MestreNova and process it.

MR would like to be able to do maintenance and troubleshooting. They use Teamviewer.

If any of you Spinlanders that speak the University IT language and can help me work through this, it would be greatly appreciated!

Janet
