Dear Members,
Thank you for the many responses you sent regarding the BVT 3000 VT unit issue I was having last week on an AVANCE III 200 spectrometer for solids (see below). Despite the good connections on either end of the factory installed RS232 cable, it turned out that the cable itself was either of the wrong type or was defective. I replaced the cable with an RS 232 null cable (which required a gender changing connector). This solved the problem.

Subject: AMMRL: BVT 3000 VT unit not recognized on AVANCE III
Dear Members,
I am having a problem with a BVT 3000 variable temperature unit on an AVANCE III console running under TOPSPIN 2.1 PL 6 with WINDOWS XP. When I type "edte" an error message appears indicating that the VT unit is not recognized. I have checked that it is plugged into the correct TTY port, have run "cf", power-cycled the VT unit, confirmed good RS232 connections, rebooted the console, rebooted the PC ...... same problem.
Any ideas?
