Research Associate II
Job Description Summary. Conduct analytical method development, evaluations, and validations. Position will report indirectly to the Supervisor of the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Lab. He/she will conduct laboratory experiments and support activities in a global team environment with project guidelines provided by senior scientific and management staff. The work will be conducted with knowledge and adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities.
1. Independently, prepare and execute protocols for analytical method development, evaluations, and validations.
2. Interpret basic analytical data (primarily NMR), document data in laboratory notebooks, summarize the results of research studies following guidelines provided by senior staff, and prepare reports complying with quality requirements.
3. Review data, protocols, and reports generated by contract research organizations.
4. Understand and apply corporate and divisional SOPs. Fully comply with current GxP's.
5. Schedule activities and organize work to meet study requirements in a timely manner. Monitor and conform to project activity schedules within a global environment to meet agreed deadlines.
Qualifications. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
1. The position requires sample preparation skills for analytical chemistry work, technical writing, computer, and interpersonal skills.
2. Ability to work independently and in a team.
3. Experience with analytical method development, evaluations, and validations is highly desirable.
4. Practical experience with Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy is a must.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's Degree in a scientific discipline with at least 2-4 years lab experience or MS required. Ph.D. level can be considered. Lab experience may include research in GxP environment, cross-functional teamwork, and independent experimentation in analytical method development, evaluation, and validation.
