Dear NMR Colleagues,
I would like to have your advice on our Oxygen sensor issue. We have one MSA Oxygen sensor located about 6 feet over one of our un-shield magnets in our new NMR lab. Over the last few months, there have been quite a few low oxygen level false alarms. Every time the O2 reading in our control room dropped to 0.00, and then shortly after the O2 reading back to 20.8. Initially we thought it was a bad sensor, we replaced with a new one, and calibrated it regularly. But we experienced a similar event a few days ago. Our maintenance suggested to move the senor further away from its current location as the strong magnet field may cause such failure (we also tried to contact the oxygen sensor vendor about this). Before we relocate the sensor, I would like to have advice on this:
- Does strong magnet field have any effect on the oxygen sensor?
- If it does, how far we may have to move the oxygen sensor away from Magnet?
As always, thank you for your advice.
