Introduction
The Advanced Analysis Unit of the Technical Services Division at the Saudi Aramco Research and Development Center provides analytical support and consultation to the Company's research projects and Saudi Aramco field operations. Our customers include up- and downstream researchers, operations and producing departments throughout the company. Analytical specialists are an integral part of R&D projects where they characterize crude oils, refining streams and process-products, provide analytical consultation, and manage analytical collaborations with partner laboratories.

Position Description
We are seeking an experimental physical chemist or physicist with a M.S. Degree (Ph.D. preferred) with nine years' experience in industrial or applied research laboratories, including 5 years at senior level in NMR spectroscopy. The candidate will:

  * Provide specialist advice and assistance on all matters pertaining to liquid state experiments for proton and carbon NMR spectroscopy, as well as two dimensional correlation experiments.
  * Conduct experiments on other nuclei and solid state NMR spectroscopy are part of the job.
  * Maintain and update working knowledge of applicable state-of- the-art instrumentation to extend the NMR spectroscopy lab capabilities in support of increasing research requirements.
  * Undertake original investigative studies to resolve technical problems outside the scope of available literature: Work in multidisciplinary teams to support Saudi Aramco's research programs and contribute to/lead investigations of operational technical problems related to the Company's petroleum exploration, production and processes.
  * Prepare comprehensive reports, analytical methods and publications including technical presentations.
  * Make detailed observations, analyze data, interpret results, write reports and/or publications, and train young scientists and technicians are fundamental part of the position. A basic level of instrument maintenance and troubleshooting is expected.

Selection Criteria

  * M.S. Degree (Ph.D. preferred) with nine years' experience in industrial or applied research laboratories, including 5 years at senior level in NMR spectroscopy.
  * Hands on experience in liquid state experiments for proton and carbon nuclei, as well as two dimensional correlation experiments.
  * The candidate should also have experience with other nuclei, solid state NMR spectroscopy, and knowledge in other spectroscopic techniques.
  * Experience in a basic level of instrument maintenance and troubleshooting is expected.
  * A strong background in petroleum chemistry is expected.
  * The candidate should have excellent interpersonal and technical writing skills, and project planning and management effectiveness.
  * Publications, presentations, and patents are expected along with evidence of a steady record of achievement, accomplishment, and performance.
  * Good spoken and written English is a requirement.
