Hello All,

About 6 years ago, a pharmaceutical company was generous enough to donate a Bruker AVANCE 400 MHz instrument to my institution. It is currently about 17 years old. We've interacted with Bruker tech support on numerous occasions, swapped out boards, replaced power supplies etc. The hardware has been problematic at times, but we've been able to keep it up and running for routine work.

More recently, our institution has committed internal funds to now purchase a new 400 MHz instrument. Upon making the specs public for bid, the Bruker salesman is now claiming that there should have been a software transfer fee (of $15,000.00) imposed upon us 6 years ago.

Has anyone ever paid this type of transfer fee?

Thanks for any information.
