AMMRL: USB Memory Sticks

Anyone know how to get user USB memory sticks to work on:
Bruker
Linux Red Hat 7.3
KDE 3.0.5a-0.73.2

I can do this as root with:
mount -t vfat /dev/sdc1 /mnt/flashdisk
but users need to be able to do this on the KDE desktop with a mouse.
They can see the Mount button but it fails to mount the USB memory
stick.
Non-root users cannot use the mount command in a shell.

Thanks very much to the Linux gurus out there.
