An experienced NMR scientist is sought for the Hollings Marine Laboratory (HML)
NMR Facility in Charleston, SC. The position will most likely be filled with a
person at the Bachelors or Masters level. A candidate with a degree in
chemistry, biochemistry or physics is desirable. Besides demonstrable
experience in high-resolution NMR, experience in additional areas like
chromatography, mass spectrometry, environmental research or electronics is
needed to support research in the fields of metabonomics, structural biology,
analytical measurement science and natural products research. The position will
include working with staff scientists, postdocs and students conducting a wide
variety of research using the NMR facilities at the HML including 500MHz, 700MHz
and 800MHz NMR instrumentation. These instruments are equipped with a number of
accessories (CryoProbes, flow probes, LC/MS, HRMAS) that will require a unique
individual who works well with others, and is self-motivated and responsible.
Duties will include a number of physical activities such as cryogen fills, probe
changes and wet lab support.
The HML is a multi-institutional research facility with partners from NIST,
National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Medical
University of South Carolina (MUSC), the University of Charleston, and the South
Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR).
