Hi Group,

OK here it is, the big fix for the Bruker ARX500 not talking to the SGI
O2!!!!! installing Xwinnmr 2.5 and IRIX 6.5

If I knew anything about networking this wouldnt have taken so long but
being low on smarts I didnt realize that I needed a crossover cable. To
make a long story short, we are using a Cabletron TPT-4 10 base-T
transceiver that does not have a crossover switch. If it did I might
have tried it and it would have worked sooner. I did some reading up on
transceivers and discovered the pin outs were different when talking to
different configurations. Something like the old null-modem cables.
Also the Xwin NMR installation manual was a big help in checking to be
sure that the necessary files had what was supposed to be in them. There
was also the statement " become su and type in _sh
/<var>/prog/bin/install.net/swap.net_. That also fixed a few things.
Section 7.6 of the installation guide is very helpful.
Thanks to all that sent me their opinnions and concerns. A great group.
