AMMRL: Insulin pump and Glucose Monitor

Hi all,

I have a user who has an external insulin pump and a separate Dexcom Continuous
Glucose Monitor that communicates with the pump. We have a 400 MHz Ultrashield
magnet, and I am wondering what people use for Safety Protocols with respect
to these devices. It is easy enough to keep the user distant from the magnet,
but they would like to be able to use the PC that is controlling the spectrometer
to actually run experiments. The room is rather small, so the chair for the
PC is about 8 feet distant from the center of the magnet.

An initial search online indicates that for MRI, the external insulin pump
should not be in the room with the magnet and the glucose monitor should be
removed prior to an actual MRI exam. The stray field from the 400 is of course
much smaller than what would be experienced during an MRI exam.

Can folks let me know any experience and safety protocols that they have in place.
We are hoping to be flexible, but want to be conservative in our assessment of
the situation.

Thanks in advance,

T. Andrew Mobley
