Hi Everyone,Sorry to take so long for a recap but I promised one so here it is:1. What are the odds of the 400 MHZ magnet coming back to field, given that it is a
Magnex magnet? The answers were from 100 % success to not-so-good.
2. What do you think is a reasonable estimate of down-time for the best case
scenerio and the worst case scenerio? So most people (3) agreed about 2-2.5 weeks from start to finish, if it came back to field. As far as not coming to field, worse case scenario would be ordering a new magnet and waiting. 3. How should I assess whether the rust will decrease the life expectancy of
the magnet? One person said it would have no effect and another person suggested that I polish the magnet while it was down.4. Can a Magnex magnet be fitted with a nitrogen recycler and how does that
affect S/N? One person said that any magnet could be fitted with a recycler but one other said that a Bruker recycler could not be fitted to a Magnex magnet.
5. Does it seem cost effective to stick with an old magnet or should I be looking
at one of the helium-only magnets that would lower cryogen costs across the
board as well as conserve helium? Consensus: get a new magnet of whatever flavor. This would give lower consumption over time.Thanks to all who responded!
