Physical Organic Chemist
We have an exciting opportunity for a Physical Organic Chemist in our
Analytical R&D Organization in Billerica, MA. You would be working on
existing and new products to meet the needs of the various businesses at
Cabot. It is anticipated that you would be involved in leading or
participating in problem solving and analytical methods development efforts
related to product development, manufacturing and sales. You will likely
spend at least 50% of the time, in the near future, in the area of
molecular structure characterization of small molecules and polymers
related to the surface treatment of organic/inorganic performance particles
using NMR spectroscopy. It is also anticipated that you would provide
valuable contributions in the areas of, but not limited to, physical
chemistry and colloidal characterization of Cabot products. Another aspect
of the job may entail from time to time working on improving existing QC/QA
tests for purposes of improved precision, reduced cost, increase
throughput, etc.
To be successful in this role, we are looking for a curious and innovative
scientist who has a recent Ph.D. in physical organic chemistry, preferably
in areas of molecular structures and reaction mechanisms, or related
fields, with broad hands-on experiences characterizing molecular structures
or/and dynamics using NMR spectroscopy.
