Dear All,

I hope you don't mind my taking a minute to let everyone know about the
release of a new NMR textbook (Wiley) by our colleague and AMMRL member,
Neil Jacobsen. The title is "NMR SPECTROSCPOY EXPLAINED, Simplified Theory,
Applications and Examples for Organic Chemistry and Structural Biology."

Neil has been the NMR facility manager at the University of Arizona for many
years, and is right there "in the trenches" with the rest of us. I have had
my copy of Neil's book for a couple of weeks, and I believe he's done an
excellent job in presenting NMR Spectroscopy, from the basics to quite
well-developed theory.

Certainly, this is not the first NMR text to be authored or co-authored by
our colleagues in the AMMRL community. Not claiming to (or even hoping to)
name them all, but Tim Claridge, David Kiemle, Quincy Teng, and the
Pochapskys are just a few who's books line my shelves (and continue to
educate me). I'm finding Neil's new NMR text to be quite complimentary to
these treasured texts, providing a different perspective throughout, with
fresh ways of thinking about (and explaining) key concepts in NMR. I think
this is a good addition to our collective library of NMR knowledge.

So, congratulations to Neil Jacobsen, and if any of you see this book in
your bookstore, or in your library, look it over. I ordered my copy from
Amazon.com, but today I was surprised to see another copy on the shelf in
our University Bookstore.

Best regards,

-Rich Shoemaker
