           NMR Analytical Instrumentation Scientist III Opening

The University Instrumentation Center on the Durham campus of UNH
invites applications for a full-time NMR Analytical Instrumentation
Scientist to work under the direction of the senior NMR experimental
applications specialist, with faculty, staff, graduate and
undergraduate students, to facilitate use of the Nuclear Magnetic
Resonance spectrometers in the University Instrumentation Center.
Primary duties will include lab orientation for new users, introductory
NMR training in acquisition and processing, acquisition of standard
spectra, spectral interpretation, and troubleshooting basic instrument
and operator errors. The oversight and management of other UIC
instrumentation will also be required.

The position requires an M.S. in chemistry or other closely related
discipline; a minimum of one to two years experience working with NMR
applications and techniques; ability to operate instruments and
implement 1D and 2D NMR techniques with little or no supervision;
familiarity with Varian (VNMR6.1C preferred) and Bruker software; and
knowledge of UNIX/Linux and Windows-based computer operating systems.
Other minimum desirable qualifications include experience with FTIR,
flow cytometry, polarimetry, and UV-Vis. Applicants must also be
computer literate and have effective oral and written communication
skills, including the ability to prepare scientifically accurate and
thorough reports. Manual dexterity and the patience to perform tasks
requiring precise and fine movements are also a must. Salary and
benefits will be commensurate with an Analytical Instrumentation
Scientist III position.
