NMR STAFF POSITION

The NMR research support facility at the University of Michigan's
Department of Chemistry is seeking a staff member who will facilitate the
use of state-of-art instrumentation and techniques by students and faculty
in the chemistry-related sciences. This person should have experience in
small molecule solution phase NMR including multi-dimensional 1H and
heteronuclear NMR, preferably in an academic or industrial NMR service
facility. The ability to interact with students at all levels will be
important. A PhD is preferred, but individuals having a variety of

inter-personal skills. Responsibilities will include the advancement of
NMR capabilities among students and faculty and optimization of instrument
performance. The position may also involve some of the following roles:
supervision of graduate student or post-doctoral staff, aid in the
preparation of grant applications, participation in advanced NMR courses
or workshops and collaboration with research groups on the sophisticated
use of NMR techniques. Applicants should submit a cover letter, a detailed
CV, contact information for three referees, and a statement of career
goals and salary requirements to Dr. Jack Novodoff, Director of
Laboratories and Facilities, Department of Chemistry, University of
Michigan, 930 N. University, Ann Arbor, MI 48109-1055. Alternatively,
materials can be sent electronically to novodoff_at_umich.edu. The deadline
for applications is December 3, 2004. Applications will be reviewed
beginning November 22, 2004. The University of Michigan is an affirmative
