Right after I sent the last message, I was explaining my thinking to my
assistant and I hit the MSR reset button again. I looked again and the
light had gone green. Spectrometer works.
Lesson to Varian spectrometer owners with networked instruments: You've
gotta have tftp available. There may be better ways to do that, but right
now my fix is to run inetd, which spawns in.tftpd, but not let inetd do
anything else.
Thanks to Phil Louthan and whatever user alerted him to the tftp issue.
