---- Richard Shoemaker, Ph.D. Phone-- (402) 472-6255 Instrumentation Director, Chemistry FAX---- -6964 Research Associate Professor, Chemistry University of Nebraska-Lincoln URL: http://www.chem.unl.edu/nmrlab.html The Department of Chemistry at the University of Nebraska (http://www.chem.unl.edu) is currently seeking nominations and applications for a tenure-track position in the field of biophysical chemistry, with a particular focus on the solution NMR spectroscopy of biomolecules. Attached please find the ad that will be appearing in Chemical & Engineering News and Science. The Department of Chemistry consists of 29 faculty with research interests that cover the traditional areas of chemistry (analytical, biochemistry, inorganic, organic and physical), as well as the interdisciplinary fields of bioanalytical, bioorganic, biophysical, and materials chemistry. The department is located in a spacious nine-story building that is currently undergoing a major renovation. The department is supported by staffed machine, glass-blowing and electronics shops, by the Nebraska Center for Mass Spectrometry, which houses six mass spectrometers, and by the Departmental Research Instrumentation Facility. The Nebraska Center for Mass Spectrometry houses six mass spectrometers available for both research and service, and the Research Instrumentation Facility houses 100 MHz (solids), 200, 300, and 500 MHz NMR spectrometers and is in the process of acquiring a new 600 MHzinstrument that will be used to support the biophysical position. NU is a Land Grant institution and a Carnegie Research I University. Please forward nominations to our search committee chair and bring this position to the attention of outstanding individuals in your research group and your Institute. Women and minority applicants are particularly encouraged to apply. Thank you for your assistance. Faculty Position, Biophysical Chemistry. The Department of Chemistry at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln seeks to fill a tenure-track position in biophysical chemistry at the Assistant Professor level, starting Fall 2001. Candidates who are interested in the structural determination of biomolecules using NMR are especially encouraged to apply; our department is now acquiring a new 600 MHz NMR spectrometer as pa r t of this effort. All applicants should have a demonstrated research record, the potential for establishing a significant externally funded research program, and an interest in undergraduate and graduate teaching. Preference will be given to those whose interests complement current research in the department. Candidates should submit a letter of application, curriculum vita, and statement of research interests, and should also arrange to have three letters of reference sent to the search chair.
