simple imaging demo

AMMRLers,

I need to set up a simple imaging experiment as a demo for students.
Have DMX, single-axis gradients 1H probe, and home-made gradient
driver box, generating pulsed gradients of one polarity (used normally
for diffusion measurements). Since frequency encoding in X-direction
can be achieved easily using shim (permanent) X-gradient, it should be
possible to phase-encode in Z-direction using much stronger gradient
pulses incorporated in the spin-echo sequence, and thus obtain the
XZ-image directly on the screen simply by FT. Has someone obtained
a satisfactory quality image in this way? Would appreciate any tips
and comments on the pulse sequence, FT mode, etc.

Happy Y2K,

Vladimir Denisov
